The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is a vehicle that barely lacks power, but that never stopped the folks at Hennessey Performance Engineering from turning up the volume.
Hennessey announced a turnkey version in January with the super truck’s power set at a staggering 1,012 horsepower and 969 pound-feet of torque, and the first 20 examples were shown at the company’s plant in Sealy, Texas on Wednesday.
With so much oomph, Hennessey estimates his modified 1500 TRX, aptly referred to as the Mammoth 1000 TRX, can soar from sleep to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and the quarter mile in 11.4 seconds at over 120 mph will happen. Remember, this is a full-size, off-road rated truck that we are talking about.
In comparison, the stock 1500 TRX comes with 702 horsepower and 650 lb and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds, according to Ram. Sure, that’s potent, but Ford is working on a new V-8 F-150 Raptor R for 2022, which is rumored to come with the Mustang Shelby GT500’s 760-hp supercharged V-8. In other words, any 1500 TRX owner looking to hit the drag strip might want to consider some of Hennessey’s upgrades.
For the Mammoth 1000 TRX, the list of upgrades includes a custom 2.65 liter compressor for the Hellcat 6.2 liter V-8, as well as pulley upgrades, a high flow inlet, stainless steel manifolds, high flow exhaust pipes (including theincluding catalytic converter) and a newly calibrated engine management. The 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive of the 1500 TRX are also part of the package.
Hennessey’s Stage 1 off-road package is also included in the standard package. These include a custom-made front bumper with LED lights, custom-made 20-inch wheels with 35-inch off-road tires, a lift kit and a leveling kit for the front suspension. For serious off-roaders, there’s a Stage 2 package that adds all of the extras of the Stage 1 package along with 37-inch off-road tires and electronic folding kicks.

Of course, the vehicle is also tested on the test bench to ensure that it delivers the promised performance reliably and consistently. A 2 year / 24,000 mile limited warranty is included.
Prices for the Mammoth 1000 TRX start at $ 135,350, and Hennessey plans to build just 200 of them in 2021. More than half of the build slots have already been claimed. Orders can be placed through Hennessey or selected Ram dealers.
Hennessey also offers an SUV conversion with a third row of seats. This model is limited to 20 units priced at $ 375,000 each. All prices quoted include the cost of $ 71,890 for the 1500 TRX donor.
